COLSTEN COLLECTS FIRST WIN OF YEAR AT PENN CAN ON PUMP AND PANTRY NIGHT. BUNKER, WOLF, ROBINSON, AND MILLS ALSO WINNERS.

SUSQUEHANNA, PA…  Joey Colsten took the monkey off of his back on Friday night at the Penn Can Speedway as he picked up the win on Pump and Pantry night. The win for Colsten marked his first of the 2015 campaign after struggling in the early portion of the year. Marty Bunker looked impressive as he drove to his second win of the season in the Crate Sportsman 20 lap main event. In the Street Stock 20 lap feature, it was Shane Wolf Jr in victory lane for the third consecutive time at the speedway. Mike Robinson notched yet another win under his belt as he picked up the win in the 4 Cylinder 15 lap affair with Buck Mills Jr finding victory lane in the Factory Stock main event.

Joey Colsten and Bobby Yeager brought the Modified field to the green flag with Yeager jumping to the advantage on the outside in impressive fashion. Yeager in just his fourth start of the season had a 5 car length lead after just one circuit. Colsten soon had to fight an ill handling race car and slid back to second with Mike Loney quickly coming up to challenge for position.

5 laps into the race Yeager continued to build his lead. Colsten held off the challenges of Loney who also had to hold off the likes of Bob Trapper, Frank Porreca, and Alan Rudalavage. The outside was the place to be early for the highflying Bobby Yeager who was able to keep the field at bay. As the race approached the halfway marker, Colsten slowly began to reel Yeager in to contend for the top spot. At the same time, sophomore Modified campaigner Frank Porreca began to run down the top two runners.

By lap 16, the battle was raging for the top spot between Yeager and Colsten. As the field came off of turn 4 on the 17th lap, Colsten was finally able to sneak by Yeager on the inside with the first caution quickly coming out at the completion of the lap. At this point the top 5 saw Colsten, Yeager, Porreca, Loney, and Trapper. On the ensuing restart, Colsten opened up a healthy advantage over Yeager. Meanwhile Porreca then quickly followed Colsten through to claim second from Yeager. As the race continued, Colsten was able to keep the field behind him. Alan Rudalavage then began to show himself as one of the faster cars in the later portion of the feature.

The final caution flag flew on lap 24 for a slowing Bob Trapper. Colsten was scored the leader with Porreca, Yeager, Rudalavage, and Brian Malcolm completing the top 5. On the restart Colsten again proved to be the fastest car on the track as he opened up his lead in the final laps. Porreca looked solid as he comfortably ran in second with the battle raging on behind between Yeager and Rudalavage. As the field came to the checkered flag, it was Colsten picking up his first win of the year with Porreca, Rudalavage, Yeager, and Malcolm rounding out the top 5.

Marty Bunker notched his second win of the season in the 20 lap Sportsman main event. Bunker started on the outside of the front row and quickly jumped out to the lead by a healthy margin. Ryan Olsommer moved into second on lap 2 where he attempted lap after lap to close in on the leader. Bunker however was the fastest car on the track as he led wire to wire en route to his second win of the season. Olsommer, Alec Gennarelli, Pat Jordan, and Todd Titus rounded out the top 5.

In the Street Stock 20 lap feature Shane Wolf Jr found victory lane for the third consecutive time at the speedway. Wolf went to the rear after being involved in a wreck on lap one. He then went on to race to the front taking the lead from Ryan Stone on lap 10. The win for Wolf not only notched his third of the season but also helped to close the point’s battle in the division.

Buck Mills Jr was back in victory lane as he picked up the win in the Factory Stock 15 lap main event. Mills took the lead on lap number 6 and never looked back enroute to the win. Mike Robinson was back in victory lane as he picked up the win in the 4 Cylinder main event. Robinson took the lead on lap 3 and held on to collect another win on the 2015 campaign.
