PENN CAN SPEEDWAY GEARS UP FOR THE 2014 SEASON
2014
With the Penn Can Speedway banquet less than one week away officials at the popular three eighths mile oval are gearing up for the 2014 racing season. After the very successful 2013 season in the books, co-promoters Al Wilcox and Reed Miller have set their sights on the 2014 racing season. Wilcox and Miller, starting their seventeenth season, have a history of race track improvements and very special events with the fans in mind. This season will not be different with plans now in place for more facility improvement and another season of special events on tap. Just before last season’s “King of the Can Weekend” the speedway experience two serious facility problems. The first was when the backstretch wall fell over, with the second being the track generator problem during the big weekend. Both problems have been rectified. A new backstretch wall will be installed during the off season. The generator problem has also been address and changes have been made so this situation will never happen again.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Special events will spice up the already exciting 2014 Friday night racing program at the Susquehanna County oval. The always popular “Clash at the Can” will return in June. Added to the 2014 schedule is a revamped “Hot Summer Night Special” for the modifieds. Our special event schedule concludes in October with the “King of the Can Weekend”.Sprint Car racing will be added to the calendar along with the exciting Xcel modifieds. The Northeast Small Car Classic will also return in July. Many monthly specials will also be announced in the near future.
